Impossible Creatures

Post by Dojan5 on Sun Oct 12 2008, 23:10

Hai.
Time for a new post. New game that is Razz

Impossible Creatures, made in 2002, distributed by Microsoft Games (for some reasons their RTS games are pretty good, though it isn't fully made by them).

Impossible Creatures is rather unique among the RTS games of its time. For instance there are no prebuilt units, that is, no archers no swordsmen and so on, you build them yourself in the army builder. And, infact, there are no archers or swordsmen, the armies you create is animals. Sounds confusing? I'll clear it up.

As far as I am right now, I'm probably quite far from finishing the game, but this is the plot.
When first entering the Campaign, you get presented to Rex Chance, who's father worked up in the north, I believe the game takes place in 1937. Rex walks into his father's laboratory, opens a door of some sort, and sees a HUGE Tiger/Scorpion creature. When he turns around, he gets attacked by a Wolf/Scorpion and he throws himself out of the nearby window. Where there are even more scorpion doggies. Seemingly one of his Fathers companions on this weird project is there too, Whitey Hooten, a bad guy. He gets saved by a woman controlling a flying train.

After that they will fight alongside with their creatures, built by you that is, to take away the Sigma Technology (The tech for building creatures etc.) from the head of that company.

The campaign mode is the one interesting me the most, most of the time I think campaigns are rubbish, but this is really fun. For instance, in the P vs PC mode you get to use prebuilt armies, even if they are made by you. In the campaign mode you have to collect DNA samples and build your own in game. It is actually REALLY funny.

Anyhow, it is worth a try to everyone.

Yarr! I won't givey linkey. The game isn't sold anymore (of what I have read). Anyhow, a little bit more into the plot. It is AMAZING!
And the units you can create! Wow, you can make 170.000+ different units. Maybe not as much as on Spore, but still. It is impressive when compared to games like AoM or AoE.
